Blue Dart Express Limited was founded in November 1983 in Mumbai. It became India’s first courier company to operate its own dedicated aircraft. In 2004, DHL Group (Deutsche Post DHL) acquired a major stake, and today Blue Dart operates as DHL’s South Asia hub, covering 56,400+ domestic locations — the widest coverage of any private courier in India.
Blue Dart handles approximately 1.5 million shipments per day and accounts for nearly 8% of all e-commerce shipments in India. Its air network connects 7 major hubs — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad — with Boeing 757 freighters operating nightly for next-day deliveries. On January 14, 2025, Blue Dart inaugurated India’s largest low-emission integrated logistics facility in Bijwasan, Delhi — a 250,000 sq ft facility with automated sorting and energy-efficient operations.

Blue Dart is a premium courier — priced higher than most competitors but offering industry-leading speed, reliability, and coverage. Charges are on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Retail rates below; contracted B2B rates are typically 20–35% lower.

Example: A 40×30×20 cm box weighing 1 kg → volumetric weight = 4.8 kg → Blue Dart charges for 4.8 kg.
