DTDC charges are based on actual weight or volumetric weight — whichever is higher. Rates vary by zone and service tier. Below are approximate retail rates; business/contracted rates are typically 15–30% lower.

Volumetric weight (kg) = (Length cm × Width cm × Height cm) ÷ 5000
Example: A 40×30×20 cm box weighing 1 kg → volumetric weight = 4.8 kg → you are charged for 4.8 kg.

Wrong tracking number
A single wrong digit gives zero results. Recheck your receipt or SMS carefully.
Status stuck “In Transit”
Updates pause when the parcel is between two DTDC hubs. Normal — resolves in 12–24 hours.
“Out for Delivery” but not arrived
Agents sometimes mark OFD before leaving the hub. Parcel arrives same day.
Delivery attempted, you were absent
DTDC makes 2–3 attempts. Call your local branch to reschedule or collect with your ID.
No movement for 48+ hours
Parcel may need a manual trace by DTDC’s operations team.
Use compact packaging
Reducing box dimensions by 2–3 inches on each side can drop you into a lower volumetric weight slab, saving ₹30–₹80 per shipment
Choose prepaid over COD
COD adds ₹30–₹60 per shipment. Switching to prepaid removes this surcharge entirely
Negotiate bulk rates
Businesses shipping 50+ parcels/month can get contracted rates 15–30% below retail prices
Avoid peak season surcharges
During Diwali and sale seasons, book a few days early to avoid 10–20% peak-season pricing
Use surface over air
DTDC Lite (surface) is 40–60% cheaper than DTDC Blue (air) for the same route on heavy items
Declare correct value
Under-declaring value to save on insurance backfires if the item is lost — always declare the actual value
DTDC does not accept the following items for domestic or international shipments. Sending prohibited goods can result in package seizure, fines, or legal action.
